                                                        Welcome Ms. Brand!

GCHS is excited to welcome Ms. Nicole Brand to our counseling staff. Ms. Brand will be serving students previously assigned to Ms. Auffenberg, as well as taking on other Office of School Counseling duties.
 

COLLEGE FAIR!

Greensburg Community High School will host the Decatur County College Fair on Wednesday, September 5th. Over 50 various programs and post secondary institutions will be represented, plus military personnel will be available. This is a fantastic opportunity for all students - grades 9 through 12 - and parents to explore future career opportunities and talk first-hand with school representatives. This program begins in the high school gym at 5:00 pm and runs until 7:00 pm. Come and check out the multiple opportunities for future endeavors. 

                 
                   SENIOR GRADUATION CHECK AND INFO

Seniors will meet with Ms. Auffenberg during their Seminar on Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th. Each senior will receive an individual graduation credit check summary. Also, post secondary information regarding application procedures for both online and paper, e-transcripts / Parchment, testing dates, financial aid, and scholarship procedures are some of the items that will be discussed. The importance of following proper procedures when submitting applications and financial information will be stressed.

Seniors will be instructed to take all the information home and share with their parents / guardians. If parents / guardians have any questions, please contact the Counseling Office.

SENIOR INFORMATION POSTED

Outside of the Counseling Office is a huge wall of interesting information to check out from time to time; such as college visit dates, testing, and scholarship information. Please become familiar with this area and don't miss out on something of specific interest. Scholarship opportunities will be available throughout the school year. The major scholarships: Lilly (mid-July), Decatur County Community Foundation (early January), and Local scholarships (early March) will be announced when available. However, there are many scholarships posted on the board upon availability. Stop by often and check it out!


DUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES FIRST SEMESTER AND FULL YEAR

Students enrolled in first semester and / or full year dual credit courses will be registering with Ivy Tech online. A student must use his / her social security number in order to register. If a student is unable to provide his / her social security number on the registration form then it will be impossible to be eligible for dual credit. Targeted dates for registration will be Thursday, August 16th and Friday, August 17th during Seminar Periods. APPLYING TO POSTSECONDARY SCHOOLS / PROGRAMS

Seniors are reminded that they need to be sure that they follow the proper procedures when applying for further education. The target deadline to submit all applications is no longer than November 1st.
